The Spectacular Super Slinky

The story of the SUPER-SLINKY can be traced back all the way to the year of 1789. Back in the day (which was a Wednesday, if you didn’t already know), our USY sub-region, Ein Gedi, was just forming. The three sub-regional board members (whose names happened to coincidentally be Natasha, Sarah, and Jason) were meeting one day to discuss the events for Regional Convention (which was being held at the same place that the thirteen colonies gathered in the Continental Congress). During this meeting, Sarah’s cell phone rang. Please note – this cell phone was transported through time from the future. Lucky Sarah. Natasha and Jason didn’t have cool phones. “Hello there friend, How can thy helpest you dear gentlewoman?” Stephanie Nichol was calling. After much “oooos,” “aaaahs,” “mhmms,” and head-noddings, Sarah hung up her phone and shared with Natasha and Jason the events that were about to take place. They were going to have to save Ein Gedi from the other sub-regional mascots in Hanegev USY at the Regional Convention of 1789. They got straight to work. They knew very well that the other two sub-regional boards were also working hard to win this battle and that they were bringing all of their spirit to the table. Ein Gedi had to win. Natasha, Sarah, and Jason began devising their plan to show all the other sub-regions that they were the BEST. Hours and hours of hard work finally led to a sudden realization. Their idea was kept top secret for almost two months until they finally were boarding their carriage to go to Regional Convention.

It was Saturday night and the competition was to begin. The three sub-regional boards stood on the podium and Stephanie Nichol announced “Letest the games beginest.” A hush fell over the crowd, and one by one the sub-regional boards presented their fighting machines. Arvot (one again with board members named Jake, Chey, and Jamie) introduced Joe Nebbish - a man whose strength alone could destroy the world’s most powerful creature. Mercaz (coincidentally led by Rebecca, Jacob, and Hanah) revealed a beautiful woman with lips so luscious and so beautiful that every USYer swooned at the look of them. And then Natasha, Sarah, and Jason were ready to go. They brushed the dirt off their shoulders, walked up to the center of the bima, and uncovered their hard work. “WOOOOWest!” screamed the crowd. Ein Gedi was sure to win. Under the box that covered their hero stood Super-Slinky. Super-Slinky could stretch up to 7 feet long or shrink to the size similar to that of a Tall Starbuck Frappacino. It had hundreds of coiled rings and two sharp ends. It could travel from the top of a staircase to the bottom at world-record time, and provided an almost excessive amount of entertainment to the USYers. The mascots fought. After two hour of insane Sub-regional spirit and action, Super-Slinky came out as the winner. On this day, Ein Gedi’s Super-Slinky made the history books. Since then, the slinky has always been the mascot of this great sub-region and it ALWAYS will remain the hero of Ein Gedi.
